Welcome! 

Many blessings to you whether you are already expecting or are planning a pregnancy. I’m Jamie Lake and I am a DONA trained, REAL Doula certified doula. I would love to help you through this incredible journey of life!


According to a 2017 Cochrane Database Systematic Review:

“Continuous support in labor may improve a number of outcomes for both mother and baby.”

They also learned that the presence of a doula resulted in: 39% decrease in the risk of Cesarean, 15% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth, 10% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief, shorter labors, 38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five minute Apgar score, and 31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience.

About Me

My mother was a midwife so I grew up knowing and understanding birth. She taught me to love how the body worked. She told me all kinds of birth stories and took me along on her Saturday morning rounds when I was in high school.

I attended both of my sisters' births when I was 8 and 10 years old. I have cared for all ages of children as a babysitter, daycare teacher, nanny, and in-home childcare provider. It has always felt natural to step in and help friends and family members during their postpartum periods. I gave birth to my own daughter in 2009 - a planned home birth that turned into a birth center transfer.

I have been a professional doula since 2013 and have experience in diverse birth environments, tools, plans, and outcomes. Alongside being a birth and postpartum doula, I am a Reiki practitioner, an Infertility Doula, Mother-Blessing Ceremony Facilitator, and provide sibling support, post-adoption support, and surgery support.

Life Song Doula Care is an ALL inclusive practice. I strongly believe that everyone is entitled to their best birth possible no matter their sexual orientation/identity, age, race, religion/beliefs, physical and/or mental abilities, or where and how they want to give birth.

My Doula Services

Birth Doula Services

  • 2-3  prenatal visits - we can get to know each other, work on your birth plan, go over and practice comfort measures, discuss questions and concerns.

  • I provide continuous, non-medical support during labor - physical, emotional, and informational

  • 1 postpartum visit 2 weeks after baby is born

Postpartum Doula Services

  • Postpartum doula services are for you and your baby’s first few weeks postpartum. They are hourly and there is a minimum booking of 4 hours.

  • I will help with baby care by answering questions, finding resources, and giving emotional support.

  • I will help with light household chores-laundry, dishes, pick-up, sweeping, some cooking.

  • I can help with older children by suggesting activities to let mom and baby rest, helping them to learn about new babies and how they can help care for them.

  • I can help your partner: feel comfortable spending most time with mom and baby, to feel comfortable going back to work, and provide emotional support.
